STIMA VALUE INDEX – MASSETO 1990

The Masseto 1990 of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia is an extraordinary red wine produced with Merlot grapes, coming from different territories of Masseto hill, in Tuscany. Excellent wine, endowed with great aromatic complexity, it shows an intense ruby red colour, while its bouquet is intense and fruited, enriched by spices. It is persistent, too , and above all it is perfect if tasted alone, or in alternative with platters based on red meats.

The Massetto 1990, part of our STIMA VALUE INDEX, was generally warm and sunny for the duration of the vine’s vegetative cycle with a small amount of rainfall in early August followed by peak temperatures towards the end of August. The characteristics of this vintage were similar to that of 1988. The harvest was carried out on 5th September.

TASTING NOTES: Another great vintage displaying superb impact, dense and mature and considerable tannic power even today. Still showing youth, the wine is very enjoyable today, but if cellared longer it will continue evolving towards even greater complexity.
